Verification: Human verified
Solvent is a chemical component used in bomb making, found during the "Minutes to Midnight" escape. You will need to collect it from the campus police van and combine it with RDX and plasticizer at the chemical machine to produce a bomb. The solvent must be placed in the correct slot and mixed in the correct proportion, or you cannot proceed.
Where to Find Solvent
Solvent is located inside the back of the campus police van. To reach it, first go to the front door of the police truck and grab the police key chain — you will need it later [src-cc415a0c9f]. Then head into the back of the police truck and use the police key card to gain entrance [src-cc415a0c9f]. Once inside, inspect the area and grab the container on the right-hand side: this is the solvent [src-cc415a0c9f]. One walkthrough simply describes opening the campus police van and taking the solvent from it [src-59f8d3957c].
How to Use Solvent in the Chemical Machine
With the solvent in hand, interact with the chemical machine at the back of the van [src-cc415a0c9f]. The machine accepts three chemicals, and each has its own designated slot:
- RDX goes into the left slot.
- Solvent goes into the middle slot.
- Plasticizer goes into the right slot [src-59f8d3957c].
Place all three chemicals into the machine [src-cc415a0c9f]. If you are unsure which chemical is which, the middle position is specifically where the solvent belongs [src-59f8d3957c].
Setting the Formula
After loading the three chemicals, you must enter the correct formula proportions:
- 60% RDX
- 10% solvent
- 30% plasticizer [src-cc415a0c9f]
One walkthrough notes that the solvent percentage is already set correctly at 10% as it appears, and that you should confirm 60% RDX and 30% plasticizer alongside it [src-59f8d3957c]. Once all three values are correct, lock in the formula [src-cc415a0c9f]. If everything is right, the machine produces a bomb, which is dispensed at the bottom — pick it up [src-cc415a0c9f].
What the Bomb Is For
Carry the finished bomb to the white truck near the middle of the level and place it on the back of the truck to blow it open [src-cc415a0c9f]. Inside the truck you will find the newspaper you need [src-cc415a0c9f]. This is the tenth level, so collecting this newspaper should unlock an achievement for finding ten newspapers [src-cc415a0c9f].
Tips
- Grab the police key chain from the front of the truck before entering the back — the walkthrough explicitly notes you will need it later [src-cc415a0c9f].
- Double-check the slot order before locking the formula. Solvent belongs in the middle, between RDX on the left and plasticizer on the right [src-59f8d3957c].
- The solvent's proportion (10%) is the smallest of the three ingredients, so if a value already reads 10%, that is the solvent's share and does not need adjusting [src-59f8d3957c].
- The bomb itself cannot actually damage you — it will tell you to step back but will only push you [src-59f8d3957c].
