Clippers are a tool item in Escape Academy used for cutting wires. They are not found lying out in the open — you must open a specific crate to obtain them, then carry them until you reach the bomb-defusal puzzle where they are required. This guide covers where to find the Clippers, what they're used for, and how to use them correctly.
Where to Find the Clippers
The Clippers are stored inside an orange crate. When you reach the crate, ignore the alphabet printed on top of it and instead treat the markings as if they read A, B, C, D, E [src-cc415a0c9f]. The correct input is:
- E 2
- A 4
- C 6
Once you enter that combination, the crate opens and you can collect the Clippers from inside [src-cc415a0c9f]. A second walkthrough describes the same crate as a locked box whose combination reads "four, then C six, and then E two" once the Russian labeling is translated, confirming the same solution [src-59f8d3957c]. Another playthrough shows the crate opened with the A4 and B6 entries before the contents — a VHS tape and the Clippers — are collected [src-6146959a4c]; where material differs on the exact button sequence, follow the E2 / A4 / C6 entry described in the full solution guides.
What the Clippers Are For
The Clippers are needed "for later" — specifically, for the bomb-defusal puzzle that follows shortly after you find them [src-cc415a0c9f]. You cannot cut any wires until you have picked up the Clippers, so do not skip the orange crate. Once you have them, proceed with the rest of the level (gathering the other chemicals and building the bomb) until you reach the bomb itself.
Step-by-Step: Using the Clippers on the Bomb
- Open the briefcase. At the bomb, insert the flower key on the left and the police key on the right to open the briefcase [src-cc415a0c9f].
- Solve the left panel. Press A, E, and F, then confirm with the check mark. This reveals a set of wires [src-cc415a0c9f].
- Cut the yellow wire. Inspect the yellow wire, then choose the Clippers to clip it [src-cc415a0c9f]. Make sure you select the correct wire — cutting the wrong one will likely fail the puzzle, since it's a bomb [src-59f8d3957c].
- Solve the right panel. Treat the buttons as numbered and press 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8, then lock it in to reveal the second set of wires [src-cc415a0c9f].
- Cut the bottom green wire using the Clippers [src-cc415a0c9f]. A second walkthrough confirms the green cable is the one to cut on this side [src-59f8d3957c].
- Disarm. With both wires cut, go to the middle of the bomb and press Disarm to complete the puzzle [src-cc415a0c9f].
Tips
- Don't guess on wire colors. Both walkthroughs stress selecting the correct wire — the yellow one on the left panel and the green one on the right [src-cc415a0c9f][src-59f8d3957c]. Inspect a wire before cutting so you know exactly which one you're targeting.
- Grab the Clippers before building the bomb. The Clippers come from the orange crate earlier in the level, and you'll need them at the very end; there's no second chance to pick them up once you're at the bomb [src-cc415a0c9f].
- Ignore the crate's printed alphabet. The top of the crate shows letters that don't map directly to the solution — mentally re-label them A–E and use the E2 / A4 / C6 sequence [src-cc415a0c9f].
Rewards
Successfully defusing the bomb with the Clippers completes the level and, if you've been following a full run, unlocks several achievements at once — including earning a B on 10 Escapes, earning an A+ on 10 Escapes, and completing the level [src-cc415a0c9f]. The newspaper found inside the white truck during the same level also counts toward the 10-newspaper achievement [src-cc415a0c9f].
