An instructor or individual associated with the cafeteria puzzle area. Also known as Professor Jeberson, he is located at the humanities campus gate in Chapter 3.

Verification: Human verified

Jeb — formally known as Professor Jeberson — is an instructor tied to the cafeteria puzzle area, and he also appears at the humanities campus gate during Chapter 3. In the early "cafeteria" escape room, Jeb is represented by a business card that you must collect and place correctly to solve the room's box puzzle. This guide walks through where to find his card, how to use it, and how to keep your A+ rank intact while doing so.

Overview

Jeb's role in the walkthrough is straightforward: his business card is one of three cards needed to open the fish-wall puzzle in the cafeteria escape room. You do not need to talk to him or complete any side task — you simply pick up his card and slot it into the correct box. Because the room layout and solution are identical every playthrough, the steps below are reliable each time [src-59f8d3957c].

How to Complete the Cafeteria Card Puzzle

Step 1: Pick up the three business cards

As soon as you gain control of your character, walk across the room to the board. Pick up the three business cards there: Ally B, Jeb, and Eel. You can pick them up in any order [src-cc415a0c9f].

Step 2: Enter the restricted room

Back out from the board and go through the restricted door to the right. This leads to the next puzzle room [src-cc415a0c9f].

Step 3: Place the cards in the correct boxes

Inside the room, interact with the three boxes on the wall. Place the cards as follows:

  1. First box: Jeb's business card
  2. Second box: Ally's business card
  3. Third box: the Eel business card

This exact ordering is confirmed across multiple walkthroughs [src-cc415a0c9f] [src-59f8d3957c] [src-3c4a331aa3].

Step 4: Collect the [Key of Lies

Placing the three cards correctly opens the fish on the wall, revealing a key behind it — the Key of Lies. Pick it up and back out [src-cc415a0c9f].

Step 5: Use the key on the toilets

Return to the main room and go toward the toilets. Use the Key of Lies to open them and move to the next area of the puzzle room [src-cc415a0c9f] [src-59f8d3957c]. From there, head to the last door marked "out of order" and go inside to continue.

Tips

  • Do not press the hint button (X). Using a hint invalidates an A+ run, and there is an achievement tied to earning 10 A+ ranks. Avoid hints throughout the cafeteria room to protect your grade [src-cc415a0c9f].
  • The solution never changes. Because the game is identical every time, you can rely on the Jeb → Ally → Eel order without re-deriving it [src-59f8d3957c].
  • Grab the newspaper collectible. After using the key and heading down the stairs, turn left next to the payphones as you exit the door to pick up your first newspaper (one of 13 collectibles). Read it before you leave [src-cc415a0c9f].
  • If you fall behind a video guide, play it at reduced speed (for example, 75%) to keep pace with the steps [src-cc415a0c9f].

Context and Notes

Jeb's card carries a joke description ("professional Santa impersonator, available all year round") along with the other gag business cards on the board [src-2c17f7b0c2]. In a later co-op variant of the room, players decode a cipher (W-R-O → J-E-B) to determine the same Jeb → Ally → Eel order before placing the cards and retrieving the Key of Lies [src-3c4a331aa3].

Separately, Jeb is referenced as the instructor for the cafeteria puzzle ("cafeteria is with Jeb") during Chapter 3's puzzle selection, and the record places him at the humanities campus gate in that chapter. Note that the cafeteria room itself is rated as a two-key puzzle in that selection screen [src-eca7cb7683].
